Pied Piper Theatre’s production of Disney’s Geppetto & Son has been rescheduled for the upcoming weekend on Saturday, February 6 at 7:30pm and on Sunday, February 7 at 4:00pm. Disney’s Geppetto & Son performs at Gar-Field High School, 14000 Smoketown Rd., Woodbridge. Tickets are $8 in advance at Music & Arts Center outlets or online at www.center-for-the-arts.org. Tickets can be purchased at the door for $9. Group tickets are also available for scouts, church groups and other organizations by calling the Center for the Arts at (703) 330-ARTS.

Disney’s “GEPPETTO & SON” takes the stage this month when the Center for the Arts’ Pied Piper Theatre presents the newest version of the enchanting story of Pinocchio. With a cast of over 40 of the area’s most talented young actors, you won’t want to miss this comedy adventure for the entire family. Put Drama in Your Holiday Stocking Don’t know what to get your kids for the holidays? Why not stuff their stockings with the gift of drama? Holiday Drama Workshops are being offered from Monday through Wednesday, December 28-30 at the Center for the Arts at the Candy Factory in Old Town Manassas. From 10:30am-12:30pm, children ages 5-7 will participate in theatre games, improvisation, and character work to develop acting basics and self-confidence. From 1:30pm-4:30pm, young actors age 8-12 will explore a broad range of acting, improvisation, character development and scene work. Pied Piper Theatre veteran actress and director, Carolyn Browder, will be teaching both workshops. Bring a little drama to your life and attend the Center for the Arts’ ACTOR’S STUDIO for fun on the stage. “Imagination Express” for ages 5-7 provides our youngest actors with theatre games and basic acting skills. Classes are Mondays and Wednesdays, 4:30-6:00pm from October 5-November 18. Students will perform a short play at the end of the session. In “Center Stage”, ages 8-12 are challenged to create and sustain a role without the pressure of auditioning. This performance workshop provides an opportunity to take the stage while learning acting basics and valuable theatre skills. “Center Stage” meets Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:30-6:00pm from October 6-November 19. Rooftop Productions opens its 2008-2009 season with James Thurber’s A THURBER CARNIVAL. Winner of a special Tony Award, this Broadway hit incorporated some of Thurber’s most popular works into one satirical review. It includes some of his most beloved stories, cartoons, and humorous short pieces, many of which appeared in The New Yorker. A Thurber Carnival features popular sketches of American life including The Secret Life of Walter Mitty. The Night the Bed Fell, and Gentlemen Shoppers. It also includes the unforgettable File and Forget in which Thurber recounts his famous correspondence with various publishers who ship him books which he never ordered. Directed by Scott Bailey, A Thurber Carnival features some of the areas most popular actors including Ted Ballard, Deb Crawford, Mark Yeager, Heather Plank, Dell Pendergast, McCall Doyle, Amy Thompson, Cassandra Newman, and Steven Rice.

AUDITIONS FOR ALICE IN WONDERLAND The Center for the Arts’ Pied Piper Theatre is seeking actors, singers, and dancers ages 8-18 for the musical theatre production of Alice in Wonderland. The cast includes Alice, the White Rabbit, Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum, the Mad Hatter, the March Hare, the Queen of Hearts, the Cheshire Cat, and many, many more delightful characters. Directed by Jann Crawford, Alice in Wonderland will perform at Gar-Field High School from January 31-February 8 with a snow date of February 15. Rehearsals are in Manassas on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. Auditions will be held at the Center for the Arts at the Candy Factory on Thursday, October 30 and Saturday November 1 with call backs on November 2. How to Audition classes are available from October 27-29 for those who would like to hone their auditioning skills. All auditions are by appointment only.
